Join Executive Director John Vick for a lively summer walk along the Andalusia waterfront. Explore the property’s relationship to the Delaware River with stops at historic outbuildings. During low tide, venture onto the gravel beach to hear about old-fashioned boating trips and other stories of leisure at Andalusia.
John has been with Andalusia since 2022. Prior to that, he spent 13 years at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where he worked on a variety of exhibitions and books, including managing the creation of new galleries of Early American Art.
In addition to his training as an art historian, John is an experienced outdoorsman. He spent four summers guiding wilderness canoe trips in northern Canada, and in 2009 he paddled the Delaware River from Hancock, NY, to Philadelphia, a distance of 230 miles over 11 days.
This tour accesses unmaintained areas with irregular surfaces, ramps, stairs, and the possibility of tripping hazards, such driftwood, rocks, and debris. Caution is required and study shoes are strongly recommended.
